BTS: 48-Hour Film Festival

The 48 Hour Film Festival

If you are unfamiliar with the 48 Hour Film Festival the rules are pretty simple. Teams are required to write, cast, shoot, edit, and deliver a film within a single 48-hour long stretch of time. If you think this sounds easy, you’re not paying attention.

A team called me the night before and asked me to participate. I eagerly agreed and volunteered to bring my camera for behind-the-scenes shots and character portraits. I was asked to be ready to go by 6 AM the next day. At 9 AM the next day, we finally hit the road for the location. (That’s just the way things go on “the 48”. Whatcha gonna do?

A long, hot, dusty, sweaty morning burned away to an equally punishing afternoon. I was drenched in 70 SPF sunscreen, competing with direct sunlight, and dancing around camera equipment. It was awesome!
