The 48 Hour Film Festival
If you are unfamiliar with the 48 Hour Film Festival the rules are pretty simple. Teams are required to write, cast, shoot, edit, and deliver a film within a single 48-hour long stretch of time. If you think this sounds easy, you’re not paying attention.
A team called me the night before and asked me to participate. I eagerly agreed and volunteered to bring my camera for behind-the-scenes shots and character portraits. I was asked to be ready to go by 6 AM the next day. At 9 AM the next day, we finally hit the road for the location. (That’s just the way things go on “the 48”. Whatcha gonna do?)
A long, hot, dusty, sweaty morning burned away to an equally punishing afternoon. I was drenched in 70 SPF sunscreen, competing with direct sunlight, and dancing around camera equipment. It was awesome!
